George Steyn elected as Chairman of the Dutoit Group

Ceres, Western Cape

At a board meeting held on 18 March 2015, George Steyn was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Dutoit Group.
Jan-Linde du Toit, who served as Chairman for 25 years, has devoted his entire career to the family business and will continue to serve as director of the Dutoit Group.
George Steyn is the first non-family member and independent Chairman of the Dutoit Group. This milestone underscores the Dutoit Group's pursuit of sustainable growth with the required corporate responsibility associated with successful commercial enterprises.
With George’s election Jan-Linde declared:
“The board of directors and the family welcome George as Chairman of the Dutoit Group. George brings valuable knowledge and experience to the Dutoit Group to help them reach new heights.”
George Steyn retired in 2011 as Managing Director of PEP after more than 25 years of service. Together with his current exposure as Chairman of Kaap Agri, director at Pepkor and RCL Foods, as well as Chairman of the Council of Stellenbosch University, George is in the ideal position to help the Dutoit Group to achieve the set growth targets.
George farms with his father in the Karoo with sheep, cattle, lucerne and game. This love for farming fits well with the Dutoit Group's commitment to agriculture in South Africa.
George lives in Stellenbosch. He is married to Miets and has four (4) children. George loves reading, bird watching and spending time in nature, especially on their family farm in the Karoo. He also enjoys cycling and playing golf.
George believes that the secret to a successful life is to live a life of value by reaching one’s full potential and making a difference to the lives of others.
